2 Timothy 2: 19 (KJV)

Today, there is so much going on in our society that can cloud our minds and twist the truth.  However, the word of God is our ultimate authority.  The passage mentioned below about the foundation of God standing sure, shows that God is the only constant in this world and will never fail.  I also thought of the line from hymn sung at our annual campmeeting “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteous.”  Jesus Christ will never change which is such a calm assurance in no matter what happens in our life, we have hope in this life and eternally as well if we are sanctified.  I pray that if you are not founded on the rock which is Jesus Christ that you will seek Him and ask for forgiveness and the blessing of sanctification.

2 Timothy 2:19 states, "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.  And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

2 Timothy 2:15-21 (KJV)

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work."

2 Timothy 3: 10-11 (KJV)

2 Timothy 3:10-11 states, “But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.”

Apostle Paul is speaking to Timothy about his life and his experiences as he walked with Christ.  At Iconium, Paul was close to death from being stoned by the people.  He staked his life on preaching the gospel and following the will of God.  Let this be a charge to us to endure persecutions that may come our way knowing that God will be glorified.  My prayer this week is to be a more willing vessel to be used for His will, no matter what the cost.

First Love

I believe that the first love to which the Bible refers is the quality of our love rather than the stage of it.  It is talking about whether our love for Jesus has first place in our life.  When we begin to put other things in front of God, we are leaving our first love.

Matthew 22:37 states, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”  In Revelation 2: 4-5 we read, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”

Psalms 146:5 (KJV)

Are you happy with where you are in life?  Truly happy?

The world often measures happiness based on wealth and/or career.  Others may turn to their family and friends for their happiness.  While all of these things are nice, unfortunately they do not make for true happiness.   True happiness comes from serving the Lord and having him be your guide in life.

Psalms 146:5 says "Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob as his help, whose hope is the Lord his God"

When we have God's Spirit in our hearts, he provides help, hope and true happiness for our lives.  If you dont have a relationship with God, now is a good time to start one and embrace true happiness.
